Course Overview
Agriculture is big business in Australia and starting a career in this field can be very rewarding for those willing to put in the hard yards. Agriculture contributes approximately 50 billion dollars to Australia’s GDP each year with dairy farming contributing 7% of that figure and directly employing approximately 46,200 people each year.
Australia has 5,800 registered dairy farms scattered around various regions of Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia. While most of the milk production takes place in the south-east other animal products such as “cheese” is produced around Australia creating new employment across the nation.
This course will offer students an insight into the dairy industry in Australia. Learn about the production of milk, the primary duty of a dairy farmer, looking after cows and the land, onsite safety & farm management.
This course is a great stepping stone for those either thinking about starting a career in agriculture or simply wanting to advance into a management role. Students may elect to go on and do further study such as an agriculture degree at university to further advance their career or find employment in the dairy industry.
